Coconuts are real globetrotters: in nature, they can drift across the sea, become stranded on distant shores and - under the right conditions - germinate there again. The three small dots on one side of the coconut are so-called germination openings. Only one of them later grows into a new palm tree, while the other two harden. Botanically speaking, the coconut is not a nut, but a single-seeded drupe. The familiar white flesh is the seed inside, originally protected by a green, leathery husk.
The coconut smiles get their name from their characteristic shape: The slightly curved coconut pieces are reminiscent of a friendly smile. Our organic coconut smiles are natural, pleasantly firm to the bite and impress with their mild, clear coconut aroma - without any additives.
Coconuts from old groves
The coconuts come from old, naturally cultivated groves in the south of Ghana, mainly in the Eastern and Western regions. Many of the small farmers involved are organized in cooperatives that promote organic farming methods and support Fairtrade certification. The coconut smiles are processed in Adeiso (Ghana) by one of Tarabao's partner companies, which provides fair wages, training opportunities and hot meals for its employees.
An honest coconut snack for anyone who values natural origins, transparent supply chains and unadulterated taste.
