Our organic date gingerbread
With our date gingerbread in organic quality we offer this year a special delicacy for the Christmas season. Similar to the traditional Nuremberg Elisen gingerbread, we do not use any flour for our date gingerbread - but a lot of nuts! We use almonds and walnuts, both finely ground and coarsely chopped, to give it a delicious bite.
The sweetness in the gingerbread comes solely from the fruit. In our gingerbread comes both date sugar (this consists of dried, ground dates), as well as fruit pieces of Deglet Nour organic Demeter dates and dried apricots. We do not use candied orange peel and candied lemon peel for our gingerbread, but we do use a fine gingerbread spice with cinnamon, ginger and cloves - it tastes like Christmas!
Also with the chocolate icing we remain true to our principles and use pure, 100% chocolate. The tart, slightly bitter notes of this chocolate harmonize perfectly with the fruity sweetness of the gingerbread.
The date gingerbread is only available in the pre-Christmas season and only while stocks last.
Baking with date sugar
Our date sugar in organic quality is particularly suitable for baking. For the production of date sugar, dates are dried and then finely ground. The date sugar is very similar in consistency to a conventional, white household sugar. Because the whole fruit is used for the production of the powder, date sugar, unlike white industrial sugar, contains a lot of nutrients.
Caramel-like fruity sweetness
Compared to industrial sugar, date sugar is slightly less sweet. Not only does it taste sweet, but it also has a subtle, caramel note that leaves a delicious flavor in many types of baked goods.
Hot drinks such as tea and coffee can also be sweetened with date sugar. However, it should be noted that the powder does not dissolve completely - so a small sediment will remain when used in the beverage. If you want to avoid this, you can use our date syrup to sweeten drinks! This dissolves completely like a honey.
